Emma Davey

Making her first recording at 2yrs old Emma hasn’t stopped singing since and has enjoyed performing for over 18 years in bands, choirs, musicals, public and  at private functions.

Graduating in 1997 with a Diploma in Contemporary and Commercial Rock (majoring in vocals)

Emma has been performing and working with David Feehan since 1997 when she was invited to join the David Feehan band, performing at the Tauranga Jazz Festival and Martinborough Wine and Food Festival for a number of years. The David Feehan Band also formed swing2latin which performed at a number of top corporate functions around Wellington.

Emma performed at the 91ZM Carols by Candlelight in 2000, 2001, 2002 in Wellington and Whangarei. In 2000, Emma performed at the Coca Cola Christmas in the Park which was televised nationwide. She has competed in the Rotorua Aria Competitions, specifically in the contemporary section achieving 3rd in the Vocal Duo Section and 1st the following year and still sings the song she wrote and won 1st prize for in the Molly Malone’s Irish singing completion.

Emma was also a founding member of Disco Divas,  formed with top Wellington vocalists Rachell Leitch and Nichola King. The group performed together for 9 years at corporate and private functions throughout New Zealand.

Coaching privately, at schools and at Massey University (now NZ School of music) Emma loves the biannual “singers concerts” hosted by Tapestry Music and loves putting together workshops that inspire and encourage participants to sing well.  As a vocal coach Emma is dedicated to the principal of constant never ending improvement and is passionate about her students learning. Emma is constantly seeking to raise the standard of her students and herself. Using a magical combination of musical knowledge, knowledge of learning styles and human nature to meet the needs of each individual student, the goal for Emma is to guide all her students to become self-empowered participants in the development of their own voices and as performers. The better you are at anything (in this case singing) the more you enjoy it and the more you gain from it as both a person and a vocalist. For Emma the best thing about coaching is when the student has a “light bulb moment” and the enthusiasm they then bring to a session.

Inspired by singing a duet with David on the album, Bronze, (“Where did love go wrong”).

Emma is currently writing and recording her own album and enjoying playing with her band “The Monks of Cool”
